Brexit wins as Britain votes to leave European Union in historic referendum
United Kingdom has voted by 52 per cent to 48 per cent to leave the European Union after 43 years in an historic referendum, a BBC forecast suggests. 

The broadcaster said that London and Scotland voted strongly to stay in the Union but the remain vote has been undermined by poor results in the north of England. 

Voters in Wales and the English shires have backed Britain exit from the EU in large numbers.

Meanwhile, the pound fell to its lowest level against the dollar since 1985 as the markets reacted to the results.

Referendum turnout was higher than at last year's general election. Labour's Shadow chancellor John McDonnell said the Bank of England may have to intervene to shore up the pound, which lost 3% within moments of the first result showing a strong result for Leave in Sunderland and fell as much as 6.5% against the euro. 

UK Independence Party leader Nigel Farage - who has campaigned for the past 20 years for Britain to leave the EU - told supporters that this will be a victory for ordinary people, for decent people.

Britain's 27 EU partners are anxiously watching the vote, fearing the departure of the bloc's second biggest economy would weaken Europe's unity and influence as it grapples with the Greek financial crisis and a massive influx of refugees.

Mother's Day is a celebration honoring mothers and motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world, most commonly in spring.

Each and every day there are women who use their tremendous talents and abilities to care for children, families and loved ones across the world.

The modern Mother's Day has been assimilated into Indian culture, and it is celebrated every year on the second Sunday of May.
In India, mothers are considered as god to their children. Indians do not celebrate the occasion as a religious one, but do their best to thank their mothers for care and love.

Traditionally, mothers are given great importance in Indian culture. The day is celebrated mostly in urban centers, by performing special acts to honor them and their contribution to the family. It is called मातृ दिनम् (matṛ dinam) (from Sanskrit). As per Hindu tradition, mothers are paid homage to on Saraswati pooja day during Devi Navratri, with "Maatri Pooja" (worship of mother).

महिला दिवस पर स्त्री की जो मूर्ति सामने आती है, वह है- प्रेम, स्नेह व मातृत्व के साथ ही शक्तिसंपन्न स्त्री की मूर्ति। यह दिन यह गिनने का भी है कि आखिर हमने मील के कितने पत्थर पार कर लिए। सचमुच गौरव और आत्मविश्वास से कलेजा तर हो जाता है उन पाई हुई पायदानों के लिए और उन आत्मबल से भरी स्त्रियों के लिए जो सचमुच गजब की हैं। इक्कीसवीं सदी की स्त्री ने स्वयं की शक्ति को पहचान लिया है। उसने काफी हद तक अपने अधिकारों के लिए लड़ना सीख लिया है। आज स्त्रियों ने सिद्ध किया है कि वे एक-दूसरे की दुश्मन नहीं, सहयोगी हैं। स्त्री सशक्त है व उसकी शक्ति की अभिव्यक्ति इस प्रकार देखने को मिल रही है। बेटियों को जन्म दे गौरवान्वित होती हैं माँ  स्त्री भ्रूण हत्या के घिनौने किस्से लाख सुनने को मिले, समाज में बेटियों के जन्म पर गौरवान्वित होतीं, प्रसन्न होतीं माँएँ भी देखने को मिलती हैं। कई परिवार अपने आसपास मिल जाएँगे जिनकी इकलौती बेटियाँ हैं या दोनों बेटियाँ हैं। वे माँ-बाप की लाड़ली हैं। वे माता-पिता की केयर भी करती हैं।    इक्कीसवीं सदी की स्त्री ने स्वयं की शक्ति को पहचान लिया है। उसने काफी हद तक अपने अधिकारों के लिए लड़ना सीख लिया है। आज स्त्रियों ने सिद्ध किया है कि वे एक-दूसरे की दुश्मन नहीं, सहयोगी हैं। स्त्री सशक्त है व उसकी शक्ति की अभिव्यक्ति इस प्रकार देखने को       गोद ली जाती हैं बेटियाँ  ऐसे परिवार भी दिखाई देते हैं जिन्होंने बेटियाँ गोद ली हैं व बड़े लाड़-प्यार से इसका पालन-पोषण कर रहे हैं। बेटियों को उच्च शिक्षा  आज लगभग हर सुसंस्कृत व सुशिक्षित परिवार में बेटियों को भी ऊँची से ऊँची शिक्षा ऋण लेकर भी दिलवाई जा रही है। शादी से पूर्व शिक्षा  तथाकथित रूढ़िवादी परिवारों में भी बेटियों की शादी से पूर्व उन्हें शिक्षित करने, आत्मनिर्भर बनाने की मानसिकता विकसित हुई है। बेटी के घर से अपनत्व  पुरानी बेबुनियाद परंपराएँ तोड़ लोग बेटी के घर जाकर रहते हैं व उसके द्वारा दिए गए उपहार बड़े प्रेम व गर्व से स्वीकार करते हैं। संपत्ति में अधिकार  बेटियों को कानून ने तो संपत्ति में अधिकार दे ही दिया है, पर पिता भी अपनी बेटियों को संपत्ति में अधिकार सस्नेह देने लगे हैं। समझदार भाई भी इसे सहर्ष स्वीकारते हैं। वर चुनने की स्वतंत्रता  वर चुनने में अब अनिवार्य रूप से बेटी की पसंद पूछी जाती है। आत्मबल में वृद्धि  महानगरों में उच्च शिक्षित युवतियों का छोटे-बड़े शहरों व गाँवों से आकर रहना, नौकरी करना, अपनी पहचान बनाना द्योतक है कि लड़कियों के आत्मविश्वास में गजब का इजाफा हुआ है। अपनी अस्मिता को बनाए रखते हुए वे बड़े आराम से देश तो क्या, विदेश में भी बड़ी आसानी से रहती हैं, पढ़ती हैं या नौकरी करती हैं। अभिव्यक्ति की स्वतंत्रता  आत्मविश्वास के साथ ही युवतियों ने अपनी सही बात सही तरीके से कहना सीख लिया है। घर के संरक्षित कवच से बाहर आ संघर्ष करते-करते उन्होंने अभिव्यक्ति की स्वतंत्रता स्वयं हासिल कर ली है। अन्याय का विरोध  स्त्री शक्ति का एहसास इस बात से भी होता है कि दो या तीन दशक पुरानी युवतियों की तुलना में आज की अधिक युवतियाँ अन्याय का विरोध करती हैं। विरोध करने पर हो सकने वाले नुकसान या परिणामों से भी वे भयभीत नहीं होतीं। पति की सच्ची दोस्त  आज की नारी की सफलता इसी से स्वयंसिद्ध है कि वह सही अर्थों में सखी-सहधर्मिणी बन चुकी है। वह पति की हर परेशानी बाँटने में सक्षम है। वह केवल पत्नी बन उसके द्वारा प्रदत्त सुख-सुविधाओं का लाभ नहीं उठाती बल्कि हर सुख-सुविधा जुटाने में बराबर की जिम्मेदारी लेती है, संघर्ष करती है। सफल माँ  शिक्षित व कामकाजी होने के साथ ही वह बच्चों के प्रति अधिक जागरूक व संवेदनशील हो गई है। हर क्षेत्र का ज्ञान होने से वह बच्चों की परवरिश अच्छे तरीके से करती है व उनके निर्णयों में भागीदार बनती है। बच्चे भी अपनी माँ की उपलब्धियों पर गर्व करते हैं। मायके-ससुराल के बीच सेतु  सही अर्थों में आज नारी मायके व ससुराल के दो परिवारों के बीच सेतु बन दोनों परिवारों की गरिमा बनाए रखना सीख चुकी है। ससुराल के दायित्वों को निभाते हुए भी वह मायके के कर्तव्यों को भी सर्वोपरि मान पूर्ण करती है सफल प्रबंधक  घर के कुशल प्रबंधन की जन्मजात प्रतिभा के साथ हर कामकाजी स्त्री कार्यक्षेत्र में भी अपनी भूमिका को पूर्ण ईमानदारी व मेहनत से निभाती देखी जा रही है। बड़े से बड़े ओहदे पर वे बड़ी सफलता से कार्य कर अपना लोहा मनवा रही है। एक-दूसरे की सहयोगी  आज अधिकांश परिवारों में सास-बहू, ननद-भौजाई, देवरानी-जेठानी के बीच गजब का स्नेह, सौहार्द व सहयोगात्मक बर्ताव देखने को मिलता है। स्त्री ने अपने पर बरसों से लगाए जा रहे इस लाँछन को मिटा दिया है कि 'स्त्री ही स्त्री की दुश्मन होती है'।  सासों ने बहुओं को ममता-स्नेह देना प्रारंभ किया है तो बहुएँ भी सास को मानती हैं। अब सास-बहू सीरियलों में ज्यादा लड़ती हैं, असल में कम। इस तरह के सुखद परिवर्तन स्त्री शक्ति की सकारात्मक अभिव्यक्ति हैं।
